Templemore Baths will soon reopen as a new visitor centre, leisure and spa facility following a £17m restoration and expansion project.

At RTU, we don't have favourites regarding the projects we manufacture and supply, but this one's a bit special as a conservation success story. RTU Building Mortar and Traditional Screed are now part of the fabric of this stunning restoration that will serve generations to come.

The key facilities in Templemore include:

  • A new heritage visitor centre
  • The restored slipper baths
  • New leisure facilities
  • A 25m six-lane swimming pool with spectator seating
  • An 80-station gym
  • Spa facilities
  • A new café
  • A Changing Places facility for people with complex needs or mobility issues

It's unusual that restored 'Buildings at Risk' retain their original use, but that's precisely what has been achieved at Templemore Baths with a few additional facilities to make for an even better well-being experience within some of its original Victorian Splendour.

The former courtyard area has been transformed into a café within an attractive new atrium featuring the original Victorian fountain, which has been restored as its centrepiece.

FACTOID!
As Belfast's only surviving Victorian Public Baths - Templemore Baths first opened its doors in 1893 to provide washing and sanitary facilities to citizens experiencing the impact of rapid industrialisation. Many people flocked to the growing city of Belfast to work in the burgeoning Linen Industry and in a shipyard bolstered by the opening of Harland and Wolff in 1861.
