Batching/Production Operative
Job Description:
Main role: To produce batches of concrete, mortar and screeds as required and to assist in maintaining the yard in a safe and clean condition
Job type: permanent, full time
Salary (£) £12.50-£14 depending on experience
Hours of work: flexible hours
Overtime and early morning start required
Work Location: Newtownabbey
Key responsibilities of the concrete / mortar batching operator role:
- Opening up of the Yard on occasions
- Checking the answering machine for messages and taking the appropriate action as required
- To produce batches of concrete, mortar and screed as per production schedule
- Communicating with the drivers, yardmen and dispatch co-ordinator by radio, telephone and walkie-talkie
- Continuously monitoring the raw material stock and re-order as necessary
- Reporting abnormal stock usage and carrying out monthly stock take
- Carrying out periodic routine maintenance and cleaning activities including washing the mixer at the end of production
- Carrying out general yard duties
- Operating machinery i.e. loading shovel, forklift, telescopic handler and shunting of lorries.
- Check consumable stock and report low levels
- Monitoring silos for dust emissions during filling and completing a daily emission check list
- Carrying out periodic maintenance checks on plant and equipment
- Responsible for own quality of work
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
- Competent computer skills
- Ability to work on your own initiative
- Ability to co-ordinate duties among colleagues
- Organisational skills
DESIRABLE
- 2 year’s previous experience within a similar role
- 3 GCSE’s C or above
- ONC / HNC in Construction or similar
- Quality Control experience
- Operating loading shovel/forklift experience
