Acute Mental Health Inpatient Centre, Belfast City Hospital RTU provided floor screed to this £33m purpose-built unit, the first of its kind in Belfast and located at the City Hospital. The Graham-BAM Healthcare Partnership, working on behalf of the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, has created a “positive space for healing”, where patients experience “inclusion and normalisation”. The purpose-built facility, providing a total of 80 ensuite bedrooms, consists of five separate interconnecting buildings arranged around a cloistered central courtyard, and communal and administration areas. All aspects of the design have been carefully considered, including the colours, lighting, materials, furniture, fixtures and fittings to ensure that the surrounding environment helps to improve the overall inpatient experience.
