Dispatch & Logistics Co-Ordinator
JOB TYPE: Permanent, Full Time
LOCATION: Newtownabbey
HOURS: 42.5 hours – Monday to Friday 7.30am – 4.30pm plus 1 in 3 Saturday’s 0700-1100
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
You will assist in planning, organising and managing the transport operation for the site, dispatching trucks in a fast paced environment and support the Transport manager in optimising performance and costs within the department. Maintaining the highest customer services, handling customer queries and liaising with the sales team. Ensure administrative procedures are updated and accurate. Promoting effective communication and leading by example build rapport within the site team to ensure business success.
KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Working knowledge of logistics and strong local geographical awareness
- Knowledge of Windows based software
- Attention to detail with particular reference to data input
- Awareness of vehicle safety legislation – drivers hours and tachographs
- Experience of planning/scheduling processes
- Basic knowledge and awareness of HGV vehicles
TRAINING / SKILLS REQUIRED
- Can show examples of own initiative and forward planning
- Commitment to excellent customer service both internal and external
- Excellent telephone manner
- Attention to detail with particular reference to data input
- A responsible attitude towards Health and Safety
- Ensure company activities are in accordance with legal requirements
- A flexible approach to working hours in response to business requirements
DESIRABLE
- 2-3 year’s experience in a logistics/dispatch environment
- Experience in dealing with customers and drivers
- Experience in working with concrete/construction products
